In 2002, the folks at Knockdhu set aside this whisky to age. In 2017, they cracked open the specially selected Spanish and American oak casks and bottled up the whisky for this release! Not only is a delicious whisky putting the brilliant fruitiness of anCnoc whiskies on display for all to enjoy, but it reminds us of 2002 year. Non chill-filtered, natural colour.
NOSE
Packed with notes of spicy Christmas cake, liquorice and toffee. Creamy vanilla and ground spices then follow, all wrapped up in the classic honey and citrus flavours so typical of anCnoc.

Chocolate adds another level of sweetness contrasted by orange zest and a hint of leather. The finish is long and warming with a spicy kick.

anCnoc 18 Years Old has matured in Spanish oak ex-sherry casks and American oak exbourbon barrels and has been bottled in its most natural form – neither chill-filtered nor coloured, and as a result may develop a light haze with the addition of water or if kept at a cold temperature. This haze is a natural characteristic of whisky that is not chill-filtered.

Aromatic, with a nice interplay of fruits (baked apple, grapefruit, orange marmalade) and honey with a bit of sherry influence (toffee and a Christmas cake kind of spiciness). After a while mint sets in and keeps growing. Dried flowers

Vanilla custard, raisins and toffee. Malty notes and candied orange. A light hint of popcorn. Quite some citrus again, as well as a hint of toasted, almost smoky oak. A nice leathery note too. Finish: medium long, with honey, pepper, raisins and a hint of cake
NOSE
An initial smoky burst surrenders to a surge of fruitiness. Ripe pears and the citrus notes of apples and limes with just a touch of tobacco in the background. The nose is balanced yet an undeniable smoky sweetness prevails.

Smoke laced with leather and sweet stewed apples. Chocolate is there too, perfectly complemented by sweet vanilla and zesty lemon. The finish has a lingering warmth with a floral smokiness.
“Blas” is the Gaelic translation for “taste” and gives a nod to the brand name, anCnoc meaning “the hill”. anCnoc blas has been matured in 23 American oak and 8 Spanish oak casks. 50% de-char/re-char American oak and 50% first-fill Spanish oak ex-Oloroso wine. At 54% ABV, it has been chosen at its optimum strength and point of maturation

Densely sweet and fruity with notes of lemon and candied orange peel. Tones of bitter chocolate and vanilla add complexity and weight
